5 Item Challenge For eBay Sales
Have you heard about the 5 item challenge to boost your eBay sales? If not, it’s probably because I just made it up. But hear me out! So many times, I think to myself that I don’t have anything to sell and I need to go out and source some items to list on eBay. In reality, I probably have many things right in my home I could list on eBay, so I’ve started challenging myself to find five things around my house that I can part with and make some extra money. Here is my strategy for finding those items.
5 Item Challenge
There are many ways to source items to sell on eBay, but doing it for free in your own home just can’t be beaten! You don’t have to get out to the thrift stores or use any gas! Now, you may think that you don’t have anything to sell. However, you would be surprised if you really took the time to look through these areas in your home:
Garage– If your garage looks like most people’s, I’ll bet it’s filled to the brim with “stuff and things.” Many people use their garages as a catch-all space, and often, what’s caught is nothing that will ever be used again. Look for things like auto parts, bicycle helmets, tools, ride-on toys, and old holiday decorations. Not only will some of these items make you some money, but you’ll also be cleaning out and freeing up more space.
Your Closets– Every clothing closet in your home offers a treasure trove of possibilities! Do you have old jeans, coats, shoes, sweaters? People are buying all of these items on eBay! Do your research and see if the brands you have will possibly sell. Wash anything that may need washing, get the wrinkles out, and list those items! Let go of those items you haven’t worn in years! Again, you are also freeing up more space, and that’s always great!
The Playroom– If you have kids, I’m sure they have many toys. Look through games, toys, puzzles, and handheld electronics they may no longer be playing with. Some of these things may be great sellers on eBay!
The Kitchen– The kitchen is great for finding things to resell. You may have small appliances you no longer use, dishes, salt and pepper shakers, and mixing bowls. Don’t forget about aprons! Even if appliances no longer work, you can part them out nine times out of ten because people look for small parts to repair what they already have.
The Bathroom– If you’re like me, you may love to buy self-care items with good intentions of using them but change your mind later. Look for new or unused perfumes, lotions, body mists or washes, skincare items, hair care products, and makeup. People also buy toothpaste, deodorant, and soap. Be sure to check the expiration dates for the items you find.
Literally, look through every room of your home and see if you can part with anything. If you find more than five items, you’ve hit the jackpot! Even if you can’t sell some of the things you find to get rid of, you can always donate them or offer them up on the Facebook marketplace or somewhere similar. You’ll feel better getting things cleaned out and possibly making some extra money!
I hope this will give you some ideas and get you started on listing some items. Where else do you source in your home? I’d love to hear your ideas!
