What Sold On eBay- January 2024
As part of a series I will be doing here on the blog, I’m sharing what sold on eBay for the month of January 2024. I will turn this into a weekly series starting in February.
eBay Sales for January 2024
I had only eight sales this month. It was beginning to look like I would only have four, but four more sales came in the last two days of the month, so I was pleased. It’s the end of the month, and many people are getting paid now. I know eight sales doesn’t sound like many, and it’s really not, but considering it is after the holidays and people aren’t doing a lot of shopping in January, I’m ok with it. Perhaps next month will be better.
eBay Totals For The Month
In total, my sales for January were $112.44. It isn’t the best I have ever done, but it’s certainly not the worst. A few of these items were deeply discounted through a sale I ran through the month. I decided to do a sale to move some really old inventory.
Total Items Sold- 8
Fees- $29.00
Final Profit- $83.44
Of course, but when you remove eBay fees, that monthly total decreases slightly. It’s just the cost of doing business. I mentioned in my last post that I don’t usually pay more than $1.00 for anything I purchase to resell on eBay. I try to keep that number as low as possible to maximize my profits. I probably need to do a better job of keeping up with the cost of goods.
Reselling on eBay Plan
Going into the next month, I have a few goals in mind that I’d like to meet:
- Source More- I barely did any sourcing in December or January. I need to up my game on that. You can’t list unless you have something to sell. I’d at least like to increase my store by 50 items in February.
- List More- Along with sourcing, you must list what you buy. You can sell what you don’t list! It’s easy to buy inventory but harder to motivate yourself to get to work and list those items.
- Cost of Goods- I need to start a spreadsheet of my current inventory to keep up with what I pay for the items I buy to resell or the cost of goods.

So, these are my first numbers of the year. It’s nothing spectacular, but I hope that as the year progresses, that number will increase. How did you do on eBay for January?
